German Empire Coins
German Empire coins are the German coinage system after 1871, from the imperial currency to euros. As per the constitution of 1871, the authority of imperial money was shifted to the imperial government, promoting the long-awaited reform for the imperial coins. The "mark" was the unit of currency that was further divided into 100 decimal units named pfennigs. The imperial coins were circulated in both silver and gold denominations.
With time and to cope with the circumstances, various other coins were introduced as German Empire coins, including the introduction of "Rentenmark" in 1923 and "Reichsmark" in 1924. The obverse of imperial coins featured the imperial eagle with the year, the denomination, and the work "DEUTSCHES REICH" inscribed on it. At the same time, the reverse featured the prerogatives of the state rulers.
The German empire coins being very close to history, are quite famous among collectors around the world. The imperial coins are not just unique and rare but also very valuable. These coins include 1888A Germany 2 Mark Prussia, 1891A Germany Hesse Darmstadt 5M, Albertine 1909 5 Mark, and more.
