Named after its designer George T. Morgan, Morgan's silver dollar was the first silver coin minted after the passing of the Coinage Act of 1792. Morgan dollar was minted from 1878 to 1904, and in 1921 Morgan silver dollar was also produced and circulated. Representing the Unites States' eastward expansion and industrial development in the country in the late 19th century, this Morgan silver dollar is an iconic reflection of history.

The design and carving of the Morgan dollar have changed from time to time as 1879 Morgan silver dollar differs from 1889 Morgan silver dollar, and both of them are different from 1878, 1880, or 1896 Morgan silver dollar. The 1895 dollar coins are quite popular, and they're minted in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Denver, Carson City, and New Orleans.

Apart from the Morgan dollar produced in these years, 1885 Morgan silver dollar, 1886 Morgan silver dollar, 1884 Morgan silver dollar, and 1881 Morgan silver dollar were also minted and circulated and are popular as collectibles worldwide.

As the last year was the 100th anniversary of the Morgan Dollar, US Mint has planned to introduce the 2021 Morgan dollar. Reflecting the modern techniques, the new Morgan silver dollar coin features a Liberty in profile on the obverse with a cap, flora, and a crown. The reverse has a carving of an eagle with its stretched wings clasping arrows and an olive branch.
