The official currency of Thailand is known as "baht" that is further divided into hundred smaller units termed as "satang". The history of Thailand coins is vast, facing various consequences at times. Rama III (1824-1951) was the first king to consider the need for the circulation of flat coins. Different series of coins were struck and circulated afterward with changes in composition and denominations.

The Royal Thai Mint located in Pathum Thani is responsible for producing and circulating all the Thailand coins, medals, and Royal Thai orders. Baht and satang were minted in various compositions, and the coins with different denominations were circulated from time to time.
