India Coins
Indian coins go way back in history and have been under alteration since then. First Indian Rupee coins (INR) were minted in 1950. After that, new coins are introduced into the country almost every year before India became a Republic in 1950; the circulating coins in the country comprised British Indian coins.
The pre-decimal stage India coins came in the denomination of ½ rupee, ¼ rupee, one anna, ½ anna, two anna, and one pice coins. After introducing the decimal system in 1957, the coins minted and circulated were in the denominations of 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50 (Naya) paisa, and 1 rupee.
Indian coins reflecting the country's ancient history are not just popular among collectors but are also valuable. These coins can be found in different categories, i.e., Mughal, Princely States, Republic, etc. Some rare Indian coins include 1890 C British India Proof ½ anna, India Awadh uncirculated rare coin, and many more.
