The Austrian currency was referred to as schillings till 2002 until it was replaced by euros. Since the beginning of the 18th century, Austrian paper money went through many ups and downs. The schillings series consisted of two series; the first started in 1925 and introduced denominations including 1, 5, 10, 20, 100, and 1000. While the second one introduced in 1945 featured 25 and 50 too.
