Canadian Small Cents
Canadian small cents, also known as pennies, are the Canadian coins worth one cent or one-hundredth of a dollar. The official term used for this coin by the Royal Mint of Canada is a one-cent piece. In 1858, the first Canadian cent was minted, readily accepted because the country first relied upon British coinage, US currency, and Spanish milled dollars.
Like all the other Canadian coins, small Canadian cents depict the portrait of the monarch on the obverse, as Queen Elizabeth II for the current minted coins. While the reverse of these pennies is a maple leaf for now, but it isn't always this design. The reverse design change for commemorative purposes over time. The one-cent coins minted from 1982-1996 have twelve sides to help the visually impaired.
Canadian small cents are collected by collectors worldwide due to their rarity and high value. Some of the are one-cent pieces include 1923 small 1-cent, 1936 Canadian "Dot" penny, 1955 No Shoulder Fold penny, 1925 small 1-cent, and more.
