United States Stamps
The first stamp issued in the US was introduced in 1847, as the issuance of the postage stamps act was passed by congress. Before this time, the postage system of the United States didn't use any stamps, and even the prepaid option was also not available. As United States stamps were declared mandatory, the stamps were readily issued in the whole State in no time.
Two United States stamps were introduced consisting of an engraved 5-cent red-brown stamp that features the portrait of Benjamin Franklin, while the other one was a 10-cent value black stamp with George Washington on it. These stamps were imperforate, as were all of the US stamps until 1857.
The US stamps are not just rare and unique but are also pretty valuable, and some of them are worth a lot of money. Some of the most valuable United States stamps include the 1908 Antique Benjamin Franklin 1-cent stamp, 1-cent used Washington rare stamp, 6-cent rare red airmail stamp, and many more.
