Canadian Stamps
The history of Canadian stamps is very vast that features four different postal history periods. Before the confederation of Canada, the territories that have now formed present Canada issued their postal stamps. That is why the postal history of Canada consists of four-time periods, including French control, British control, colonial government control, and Canada.
In 1851, the province of Canada started issuing its stamps with the denominations of 3d, 6d, and 12d. The first Canadian postage stamp featured a beaver in an oval frame and was termed Threepenny Beaver, the first stamp not to have a picture of a monarch. In 1868, all the previous issues were discontinued, and the new series introduced depicted a portrait of Queen Victoria.
