Last Updated: Jul 28, 2023

In 1966, Australian paper money was first distributed by the Reserve Bank of Australia; Australia switched from pound to dollar. The Australian banknotes were designed by Gordon Andrews, who rejected the other Australian clichés and favored the subjects like women, culture, environment, architecture, etc.

Based at Craigieburn in Victoria, Note Printing Australia Limited (NPA) is responsible for producing and distributing Australian paper money. The banknotes from time to time were altered and reintroduced and are divided into four different series based on their production in four different designs and eras. The first is termed "Original series" while the other three are the "polymer series".

Undoubtedly, some of the Australian banknotes are of great value and attract a lot of collectors worldwide. The rarest and valuable banknotes include 5 dollars Philips Randall, Asterix replacement two dollars' banknotes, Australian 100X $5 2001 federation Unser banknotes, Australian 2020 P-new 100-dollar Polymer about UNC, and more.
